To Live and Cry in LA

“To Live and Cry in LA” is a photo book that consists of 66 Los Angeles based photographers. The book documents the voices of the city during one month of the BLM movement.

Photos were submitted on instagram using the hashtag #ToLiveAndCryInLA and selected by Aaron Requeña, Alex Harper, Ali LeRoi, Blair Caldwell, Estevan Oriol, Ramona Mia, + Safi Alia Shabaik.

The title “To Live & Cry in LA” stands as a testament on how the city of Los Angeles mourns together and stands together in solidarity during the Black Lives Matter movement. The aim of the book is to create a platform to showcase the SOLIDARITY of Los Angeles and provide a narrative from the community that differs from what media and news outlets portray. I wanted the voices & perspectives in the city of Los Angeles to be heard by using photos from professional and amateur photographers from the Los Angeles area.

All proceeds of the book went to ACLU Socal, Black Lives Matter LA, Black Visions Collective, Innercity Arts, and People’s City Council Los Angles.
